Hi. I'm Dr. Barbara Schibly and I am a board-certified preventive medicine physician.
Five years ago, when I first began helping people lose weight,I gave the same tired advice that everyone else gives: cut portion sizes, reduce dietary fat and do lengthy "fat-burning" workouts at the gym. In other words, just reduce the number of calories you eat and increase the number of calories you burn.
But, although my patients followed this advice to the letter, a funny thing happened. They didn't lose weight. Or if they did manage to lose weight this way, they almost invariably regained it within a few short months.
So, I turned to the medical literature with one question in mind: Just how do you shed those excess pounds - and keep them off?
